Traditionally Gothic, it continues to be one of the principal streets in Barcelona, joining Plaça Nova (the site of the Cathedral) with Plaça Sant Jaume. One of its main attractions is the Gothic arch built by Joan Rubió i Bellver in 1928 and which joins the Palau de la Generalitat with Casa dels Canonges.
